As a Child sees it

When I was in elementary school, I learned about the earth from the maps. Than when I looked at the sky, I looked at formulations that looked like those in the map, called clouds. I came to a conclusion: That is Australia, that is India, America, etc. But why do they change, even disappear? I also learned the earth is rotating and moving around the sun.
